Our Summit Sensory Gym Just Got Even More Magical ✨🌼

At Marigold Speech & Co., we believe therapy should be engaging, meaningful, and fun. That’s exactly why our Summit Sensory Gym has become one of the most loved spaces in our clinic—for our therapists, our families, and especially our clients.

And now… it has a brand-new look.

Over the past week, local artist Jill generously donated her time, talent, and creativity to transform one of our walls into a breathtaking nature-inspired mural. What was once a blank wall is now a colorful landscape filled with wildflowers, rolling hills, a cheerful frog, whimsical mushrooms, and a glowing sunrise—creating an inviting environment that sparks imagination the moment you walk in.

We are incredibly grateful for her generosity and the heart she poured into every brushstroke.

More Than a Sensory Gym

While the mural is beautiful, what happens inside this room every day is even more incredible.

Our Summit Sensory Gym is designed to help children regulate their bodies, build confidence, and develop the foundational skills needed for success in everyday life.

This space allows us to incorporate movement into therapy in purposeful, evidence-based ways while keeping children motivated and engaged.

Some days, it looks like climbing.

Other days, it’s swinging, balancing, jumping, crawling, or playing.

To a child, it feels like fun.

To our therapists, every activity has a purpose.

Where Speech and Occupational Therapy Come Together

One of the things that makes the Summit Sensory Gym unique is how often it’s used for co-treatment sessions between Speech-Language Pathologists and Occupational Therapists.

During these collaborative sessions, our therapists work together to address multiple goals at the same time.

While a child is navigating an obstacle course, they may also be:

• Following multi-step directions

• Expanding expressive language

• Practicing social communication

• Working on AAC use

• Developing motor planning skills

• Improving attention and executive functioning

• Building self-regulation strategies

• Strengthening balance, coordination, and body awareness

Movement often helps children become more engaged, regulated, and ready to communicate.

By combining speech and occupational therapy, we can create meaningful experiences that support the whole child.

Individual Therapy That Meets Children Where They Are

The Summit Sensory Gym is also used during individual speech and occupational therapy sessions.

For some children, movement is exactly what their nervous system needs before they’re ready to learn.

For others, incorporating sensory activities throughout therapy helps improve focus, participation, and carryover of new skills.

Every child is different—which is why every therapy session is individualized.

Our therapists thoughtfully use this space when it’s the right fit for each child’s goals, interests, and sensory needs.

When we expanded into our new clinic, we dreamed of creating a space where children would feel excited to come to therapy.

Today, our Summit Sensory Gym has become one of the most requested and recognizable parts of Marigold Speech & Co.

Now, thanks to Jill’s incredible mural, it has

become even more special.
