Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our multidisciplinary team at Marigold—a private practice expanding from its roots in speech-language pathology to a broader range of therapy services. As we move toward our rebrand in Fall 2025, we remain committed to fostering a workplace where clinicians love what they do and feel truly supported.
The ideal candidate will assist in delivering high-quality, client-centered occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This role is perfect for a motivated, team-oriented professional who values collaboration, patient connection, and continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
Therapy Support
Carry out treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist to help patients improve functional skills in areas such as daily living, motor coordination, and sensory integration.
Lead individual or group therapy sessions in a way that is engaging, supportive, and aligned with the patient’s goals.
Observation & Reporting
Monitor patient performance and progress during sessions.
Accurately document activities, patient responses, and any observations that may inform adjustments to treatment plans.
Patient & Family Education
Assist in educating patients and caregivers on home-based strategies and adaptive techniques to support therapy goals outside of sessions.
Collaboration
Work closely with a multidisciplinary team—including speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, and mental health professionals—to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
Participate in team meetings and contribute insights regarding patient progress and needs.
Professional Development
Engage in continuing education and stay current with best practices and techniques in occupational therapy.
Requirements
Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
NBCOT certification and current state licensure in Wisconsin
Previous experience working with pediatric and/or adult populations preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable using EMR systems and digital documentation tools
Strong sense of empathy, professionalism, and a team-first mindset
Work Environment:
Outpatient clinic setting with a supportive, team-oriented atmosphere

Physical Demands:
Ability to perform tasks involving physical interaction with patients, including sitting, standing, kneeling, and occasionally lifting up to 50–70 pounds

Requirements
Position: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
Qualifications: Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program; current certification by NBCOT and valid state licensure required.
Skills: Proficient in assisting with patient assessments and implementing treatment plans under the direction of an Occupational Therapist. Strong skills in therapeutic activities, adaptive equipment use, and functional training. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
Experience: Experience working with both adult and pediatric populations preferred. Familiarity with a variety of clinical settings is a plus.
Other Requirements: Proficient in technology use including web-based platforms, email, EMR systems, documentation software, and digital communication tools. Additional certifications in specialty areas (e.g., sensory integration, neuro-rehabilitation) are advantageous.
